AMD Cyberjaya Toastmasters Club 4th Meeting

Objective:
For all members to gain experience on how to run a meeting.
Encourage members to talk in front of an audience and complete their achievement modules.
Give opportunities for members to take part in the meeting either as speakers or role players

Agenda/Minutes
President's Address - Tanes-Kumar N-Maniam
Club's President, Tanes gave welcome speech and address the fellow toastmasters and welcome guests. Mentioned about the theme of the day which is Public Holiday since Hari Raya and Merdeka holiday are coming.He wished everyone enjoyed the meeting and relax, taking the mood for holidays.

Toastmaster of the Evening - Asmah
TM Asmah , the Toastmasters of the Evening explained on the meeting agenda and call out each role player to explain on their roles and responsibilities.

  3. Ah-Counter - Harun, Hasbullah
  4. Timer - Ramnawal, Dropati

Table Topic Session
Table Topic Master TM Vinodh
During this portion of the meeting, club members (and willing guests) practice impromptu speaking by responding to questions or topics prepared by the Table Topics Master.   Sometimes the topics are simple, such as "My Favourite Holiday", and sometimes they are more challenging, focusing on issues of the day, such as Elections, the Olympics, Health, Education or Crime, where you may be required to give an opinion, or argue a point of view. 

The Table Topic Speakers and their topics for this meeting were :
  1. Awang, Aslina - What was the worst hairstyle I've ever had 
  2. Ahmad-Osman, Norman - What would you try if you have no fear 
  3. Harun, Hasbullah - Who is your Hero and why 
  4. Adnan Anwar - What did you get into trouble the most when you were young
  5. Kam, Yuen-Chi- If you could master one instrument, what would that be

Table Topic Evaluation - TM Jamila

TM Jamila gave his evaluation to all the table topic speaker, included some suggestion and pressing on how it is very important to organize our speech.

Project Speakers Session


In this section, Toastmasters practice their public speaking skills by giving a prepared presentation from the Communication and Leadership Programmes.  Each project in every manual has a specific objective in an area that helps you practice different speaking techniques. These objectives are designed as guidelines to help you think about the various qualities that comprise a good speech. Some speakers may be giving an icebreaker, while others may be trying to persuade you to their point of view, or inform you about technical issues relating to their hobby or occupation.  You'll learn something new with every speech you listen to!

Speakers for Ice Breaker project and their topic in this meeting were :
  1. Wai, Chan-Fai (Eric) - Eric's Journey 
  2. Nitis, John - How do I found myself here 
  3. Lau, Jien-Tsun - Why am I standing on this stage
Speaker for Organize Your Speech project is :
  1. Kam, Yuen-Chi - The day that I will never forget 
  2. Muthiah, Alagappan - Two Choices
Project Speech and General Evaluation
In this session, all the evaluators presented their evaluation project speakers.
The evaluators for this meeting are :
  1. Speech Evaluator TM Vinodh gave her evaluation for Project Speaker for Project 1 Eric and Jensen, also Project Speaker for project 2 Alagappan. 
  2. Speech Evaluator TM Rosa Phua gave evaluation for Project 1 Speak John and Project 2 Speaker Yuen Chi. 
  3. General Evaluator TM Rosa gave her evaluation on overall meeting. Some of her points are :
    • She was impressed with the enthusiasm from all speakers and audience, together with the volunteers for table topic session.
    • She mentioned on the good attendance in this meeting even though it is Ramadhan month.
    • Some improvement she suggested were :
      • She suggest that the Timer use more interesting way such as using flashing lights or ask audience to clap hands once the speaker has run out of his / her time.
      • Toastmaster of The evening doesn’t have to read out the objective for Speech Project - let the speech evaluators do that.
      • To put Ah-Counter at the end so he can count the pause fillers for everyone in every session.
      • Implement the voting for best project and table topic speaker.

Closing

Meeting closed with the speech from Club's President TM Tanes, and the award giving for the best table topic and project speaker of the meeting. They are :
  1. Best Table Topic speaker - Ahmad-Osman, Norman 
  2. Best Project speaker - Nitis, John
