AMD Cyberjaya Toastmasters Club 11th Meeting

Call to order and Welcome by ASAA - Heemi-Fazeere Hanif
ASAA called to order and started the meeting.

Toastmaster of the Evening - Mohamed Annuar
TM Annuar , the Toastmaster of the Evening started with reading out the history of Toastmasters Club International and introduce the Word of the Day - METICULOUS.
He then called out each role player to explain on their roles and responsibilities.

  2. Grammarian - TM Aida-Jazmin, Azmi
  3. Ah-Counter - TM Norshela Mohamed-Azahar
  4. Timer - TM Fairizul Mohamed


Table Topic Session - Table Topic Master TM Heemi

During this portion of the meeting, club members (and willing guests) practice impromptu speaking by responding to questions or topics prepared by the Table Topics Master. Sometimes the topics are simple, such as "My Favourite Holiday", and sometimes they are more challenging, focusing on issues of the day, such as Elections, the Olympics, Health, Education or Crime, where you may be required to give an opinion, or argue a point of view.

TM Heemi have 5 Doraemon boxes on the screen and volunteers will need to choose one of the box. When the box opened and revealed the object behind it, volunteers need to talk about the object directly or indirectly. The Table Topic Speakers and their topics for this meeting were :

Project Speakers Session

In this section, Toastmasters practice their public speaking skills by giving a prepared presentation from the Communication and Leadership Programmes. Each project in every manual has a specific objective in an area that helps you practice different speaking techniques. These objectives are designed as guidelines to help you think about the various qualities that comprise a good speech. Some speakers may be giving an icebreaker, while others may be trying to persuade you to their point of view, or inform you about technical issues relating to their hobby or occupation. You'll learn something new with every speech you listen to!
In this meeting we have speakers who did their speech for 3 different projects.

TM Asmah gave evaluation for all table topic speakers.

Project Speech Evaluation and Reports
In this session, all the evaluators presented their evaluation project speakers. General Evaluator, TM Tanes upon all the speech evaluator to come in front and present their evaluation.
The evaluators for this meeting are :

  1. TM Rosa Phua, gave her evaluation for Project Speaker 1 TM Dropati.
  2. TM Vallie gave evaluation for Project Speaker 4 TM Asmah.
  3. TM Amin Labaran provided his evaluation for both Project Speaker 2 and 3, TM Hasbullah and TM Norman respectively.

TM Rosa Phua then called upon all the role players to present their reports :

  3. Grammarian's Report - TM Aida


General Evaluator and Invocator evaluation

At the end, General Evaluator TM Rosa Phua gave her evaluation on overall meeting. Some of her points :
Need improvement

  1. Speakers need to inject more values into their speeches (more valuable content)
  2. Do not repeat your speech title as it has been mentioned by the TME when he introduces the speakers.
  3. Audience is advised not to disturbed the speaker (eg, jump in and ask speaker a question) while they are presenting their speech.
  4. Timer is suggested to hold the card longer as not to let the speaker miss seeing it (hold for more than 15 seconds)
  5. For table topic evaluation - TM Rosa Phua suggested that when TME introduces the TT Evaluator, he/she tells the audience what criteria that will be evaluated in the TT session that day, eg will only evaluate the content, or the body language etc. Fix one or two criteria to be evaluated and let the volunteers know.

Something GOOD

  1. AMD Cyberjaya Club meeting was as usual, very well organized.
  2. The strength of the club's meeting is the fun style of the table topic session.

Table Topic Session - Table Topic Master TM Asmah

During this portion of the meeting, club members (and willing guests) practice impromptu speaking by responding to questions or topics prepared by the Table Topics Master. TM Asmah brought a paper bag which includes 10 objects inside. Volunteers for table topic will need to put their hands into the paper bag and select one object (without looking).

TM Tanes announced a new approach on how the audience can help to control the time for all speakers - after the 30secs buffer time passed, audience will drum the table.

Table Topic Master to introduce the speaker before they starts - mention the Speaker Name - Topic, Topic, Speaker Name.
Speakers are advised to stand in front of ALL audience to address them easily.

What does he likes :
Very FUN club!
The venue - very comfortable and has a very good balance of the crowd
Timing is good
The way TME highlighted the changes to time keeping
What can be improved :
The rostrum position is an interference, try to move it to the side of the room
Table topic master advised to mentioned the name of the speaker
Audience advised to silent their phone
Mind the manners - audience talking and whispering to each other
Do not overdo when interfere with the speakers (making jokes, address etc)
